One man's 9-year dilemma with the Social Security AdministrationIn 1990 when Raymond Frangiosa applied for a student loan, he discovered that according to the Social Security Administration he was deceased. For 9 years he tried to have the error corrected and eventually turned to Jerril J. Krowen, Counsellor at Law, for assistance. Because the Social Security number has become a national identifier used by not just the Social Security Administration but also by other government agencies and businesses like insurance and mortgage companies, without it you cannot get credit, renew your driver's license, etc. Ironically, although Ray was recorded as "deceased," the SSA continued to take taxes from his pay cheque. He also discovered that his death benefits had been cashed in, although the SSA later denied this. On Monday, May 3, 1999, WBZ broadcast an interview with Mr. Frangiosa in which he discussed his ongoing problems with the SSA. WBZ also interviewed a representative of the SSA. After the broadcast, Jerril J. Krowen's office was contacted and the SSA sent a representative to meet with him and his client, Mr. Frangiosa, to review the evidence. Within days the error was corrected and the SSA sent Mr. Frangiosa a letter to that effect. |
